Over 4,000 people are expected to take part in one of the world's best one week bike touring holidays: The RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride 2012. Bike riders love Gippsland and the route planned for 2012 is stunning.
Organised by Bicycle Network Victoria, the 591 kilometre bike touring holiday will feature the very best of Gippsland including: two days riding the spectacular Grand Ridge Road, bike touring alongside Gippsland lakes and rivers, Rail Trail options, historic towns, gourmet produce, wineries and Phillip Island.
Whilst there is little debate the Great Ocean Road is Australia's most famous touring road, the Grand Ridge Road which snakes through the Strzelecki Ranges is arguably our premier bike touring route.
The RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride is an amazing event, ask someone who has taken part. It's an unforgettable holiday, suitable for all ages. It's social, inspiring, and a challenge.
The holiday starts in Lakes Entrance on 24 November with overnight stops planned for: Bruthen (24th), Briagolong (25th), Rosedale (26th), Traralgon (2 nights 27th and 28th), Yarragon (29th), Mirboo North (30th) and San Remo (1st Dec) with a finish on Phillip Island.
For those who can't get away for the week but still want to be part of the fun can join the 3 Day RACV Great Vic Getaway from Yarragon to Phillip Island. For those after a taste of the event then join the 1 Day RACV Great Vic Finale from San Remo to Phillip Island.
There is no better way to see Australia and meet Australians than on the RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride. It is a week in another world.
