About Golden Triangle – Nannup and Balingup and Bridgetown

The Golden Triangle is a scenic drive that follows the Blackwood River and the Balingup Brook; incorporating the towns of Nannup, Balingup and Bridgetown. The towns are of unique and historical significance – located within spectacular scenery.

Highlights of the drive include the Karri Valley, Birdwood Park, the Tinderbox and the Old Cheese Factory.

The town of Balingup is located 241 kilometres south of Perth and 31 kilometres south east of Donnybrook and the town is said to be named after the Aboriginal warrior, Balingan.
Bridgetown is situated on the Blackwood River between Greenbushes and Manjimup. The Aboriginal name for the area is Geegelup. Bridgetown has been granted ‘historic town’ status by the National Trust of Australia.
Nannup is located 282 kilometres south of Perth and 44 kilometres west of Bridgetown. The name is of Aboriginal origin and is said to mean ‘stopping place’.

John Bunday There are many fine drives in Western Australia but we always return to and love this one. The Blackwood valley is not so much spectacular but it is inspiring.
